Sedgwick, the leading global provider of technology-enabled claims and productivity management solutions, has partnered with the UT/West Institute for Cancer Research in the fight against cancer by committing to serve as presenting sponsor of its signature fundraising event—West FIGHT ON.

West Cancer Center provides the most comprehensive cancer treatment available in the Mid-South, delivering a continuum of compassionate care to more than 40,000 patients each year. The center is also a nationally acclaimed leader in groundbreaking cancer research.

The 2017 West FIGHT ON event will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, at Memphis’ Shelby Farms Park and will feature a range of fitness activities for the entire family, including cycling routes at three distances, a 5K run and a one-mile tribute walk. It will culminate with a special ceremony honoring cancer survivors.

Leading the charge for West FIGHT ON is a 15-member steering committee of business and community leaders, including Bob Blankenship, operations group chief of staff at Sedgwick. Proceeds from the event will benefit the University of Tennessee/West Institute for Cancer Research and be used for discovery, innovation and advancement in the field of adult cancer research and patient education, care and support.

“The UT/West Institute is at the forefront of the fight to find a cure, and we are so proud to join forces with this world-class organization in ensuring a brighter tomorrow for countless families touched by such a devastating disease,” said Dave North, Sedgwick president and CEO. “Our company philosophy is ‘caring counts,’ and few community institutions embody that belief better than the UT/West Institute. The Mid-South is fortunate to have an outstanding nonprofit of this caliber bringing hope to those facing a cancer diagnosis.”

“Fight On is the rallying cry to show support for anyone touched by cancer,” said Jordan Walker, manager of special events. “We are honored to have Sedgwick as the presenting sponsor of our signature fundraising event as we continue to invest in cancer research and patient services. We are deeply grateful to have such a generous and committed partner in the fight against cancer.”
